Beautiful Paninni (Nini) is a 4 year old Rat Terrier mix who came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue from the Idaho Humane Society and we couldn?t be more thrilled they have entrusted us to find her a forever home. Panini was surrendered by her owner to I.H.S. in January because her owner could no longer afford her. This adorable little girl was under socialized, had obviously had puppies and would bite at anyone who got within teeth range. But the wonderful caregivers at I.H.S saw she had potential and spent a month working on her socialization. During her time at I.H.S she made some human friends and lots of little dog friends but she still was very scared of strangers; so I.H.S knew she wouldn?t thrive unless she was out of the shelter.
During the time Paninni has been with Fuzzy Pawz her foster family has been working on her socialization with people and have found that she is a very loving girl once she knows she can trust you, she just needs to be the one to approach you first. Nini will need more work with socialization as crowed areas and lots of people tend to stress her out; but she is doing better all the time and we feel she will continue to improve. Working on her socialization going forward will be extremely important and your willingness to continue working with her is a requirement of adoption.
Paninni will sit or lie beside you and look adoringly up at you waiting for you to acknowledge her and give her belly rubs (Nini LOVES belly rubs). If you pat your lap she will gladly jump into it for more pets and loves. Nini also loves to be rubbed under her chin and on her ears.
Nini is potty trained, good with cats, she is trying to learn how to play with the cat in her foster home and she is very gentle in her play. She is excellent with little dogs her size; she has not been exposed to large dogs at this point.
Nini is excellent on a lead and will stay right beside you and not tug or pull at the leash at all; if she stops to check something out if you tell her ?Nini come? she will go right with you. She is very smart and quickly learned how to ?sit,? ?sit pretty,? (although a bit wobbly), ?down? and is doing well with ?stay? but does need a bit more work on that one. Nini is also doggy door and kennel trained. As quick as she picks up commands and wants to please she would probably be a good trick dog. Nini is very attentive when you are talking to her whether it is to give a command or just talk to her you will have her undivided attention.
Nini has periods of high energy mix with some mellow times so an active to semi active family would suit her best; however she will need a quieter household with NO children under 13. Paninni will also need to go to a home with at least one other small dog ? this will help with her transition and she will continue to learn a lot from having another friendly, stable dog in the household.
Nini is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations.
